We had a great workshop day on January 21st.   We worked on charity projects and some of our own projects.

October 2016 Workshop

We enjoyed a wonderful workshop on Saturday, Oct 23rd.  Everyone was so excited to create their own version of Jean's Braided Star quilt, made with the binding tool.

Jean has made many versions of this quilt. On saturday she was working on the christmas version.  She also brought in the top of one made with autumn fabrics for fall.  It used a print as the background fabric, which displayed a nice change to the design.

August 2016 Workshop

We enjoyed a day of sewing together this past Saturday.  Jan B.  introduced the club to alzheimers fidgit quilts.  We spent time building those foundations and spent some time working on our own projects too.

Lesa S.  is working on a piece for a charity auction.

And here's our Margaret, running from the ironing board.  She brings a sunshine personality to keep us inspired.  She also worked on fidgit quilts and her own project.  She pieced tops and I quilted them together and I couldn't keep up with her.

All in all, we had a great day.  I think Jan was pleased that we were inspired to contribute to this mission.

February 2016 - Charity Workshop

We had a productive and fun day on Feb 20th. 

Our goal was quilting for our charity programs.

August 2015 Workshop

This month our workshop was dedicated to making a twin size patriotic quilt for participation in a program for the local veterans home.  All our wonderful club members took part in making the blocks in advance.  We used the workshop day to assemble and tie the quilt.  It went so smoothly with 18 helping hands.  We are blessed to have it finished in record time.

May 2015 Retreat

Greetings everyone!  I've finally edited the photos from our overnight retreat in May.  If I don't do things right away, it is so much harder to get yourself back to it.

We had a great time.  Actually I think the time went by quickly.  We did indulge ourselves with a cat nap, then got right back to it.  There was plenty of sugar to keep us energized.

We had a pot luck carry in,  lots of food and desserts, vegetables were scarce.  But then what is the most important ingredient at a sew-in ............. chocolate.  Yep, we had chocolate. Here is our buffet table.  Everyone was invited to dinner, even if they couldn't stay overnight.

Pres. Jen brought a troubled medallion, looking for ideas to turn it into a quilt.  She received much help, since quilters can't resist sharing their creative ideas.

It's truly evident that Stephanie is enjoying her work!

We had a great time and fondled lots of fabric.  I thought I was too old to stay up all night,  but each year gets easier.  I'm looking forward to next years' quilting marathon!

March 2015 Sew-In

Several club members gathered for a sew in last Saturday, March 7th.  We had a great time together.  We worked on our own projects this time ... anything goes.  Remember to click on any photo for a larger close-up.


First up.........Kathy B and Val B.  Here they are making design decisions for Valerie's project.

This is Kathy B's  X's and O's project.  She was able to add the borders and be ready for the next quilting stage.  The best part of this photo is .......................  the   SOCKS !   Kathy is showing off her socks in this photo....testament to a colorful quilter, indeed!   You can see her in the photo above.

Here is our Mary D., working on a secret project.  Ssssh, don't tell.    LOL  I wonder what it could be?

This is Stephanie J., our ever-faithful  fearless leader.  Steph is working on a child comfort quilt of comfy flannel with raw edge applique stars.

Here is Dee, working on a new outfit for the m o u s e.  What some gals will do for a friend.  

And me ? ...... see the table behind Dee,  I'm  cutting up bolts of home dec fabric for our new year of school book bags.  I got 48 bag and strap kits cut.

and here is our Alice .  She is creating a colorful 4-patch quilt.  Somebody will love to cuddle under this bright and warm quilt.

We had a great sew day.   We see signs of spring on the way and fresh new energy for more quilts.  See you all next month!
