January 2017 Meeting

Greetings, club.  We had a low attendance for the first meeting of the year;  the bitter cold temps kept some folks at home  and  some are now snowbirds for the winter.

I decided to take some photos of members during our meeting.  Some have a bit of blurr, as they are moving about while I'm shooting them.


January Program

Stephanie presented our program for January.  She came so well prepared, patterns, fabric, quilt sample; but  sorry that her program was cut short since the meeting went overtime with discussions of craft tables and the upcoming quilt show.

She shared this charming Welcome Banner pattern and encouraged this as a project for Saturdays sew day.  If you missed the meeting, I'm sure Stephanie will have some extra copies of the pattern with her on Saturday.  You are still welcome to work on anything you want.  Bring your troubled projects,  we love to interfere       help.

*** Don't forget about the  "Spring Challenge" project.  It will make a lovely display at our quilt show, so I hope there will be lots of participants.   Details:  due in March,   a quilt made of 3 layers, quilted and finished,  anything that reminds you of spring, is the theme.  It must be no smaller than 24 inches square and could be any size, even bed size.  It must be an item made after the challenge was announced (April 2016).

November 2016 Meeting

We have some great photos to share from our November meeting last week.

This month was the deadline for our UFO challenge.  Many folks (including me) didn't get their committed project finished,   but  

Dee finished her 2 quilts for family made from jeans.  They were already gifted so she showed us the pic on her phone.

Speaking of Margaret,  this is the child donation quilt she made from my kit.  I try to auction off a kit every month.  Margaret is always our gracious volunteer.

The next two photos show different angles of  the pile of quilts that our Joyce makes for our child charity mission.

and finally, some gals laid out their tops from our workshop last month.  Jean was so generous in sharing instructions to make the Binding Tool Star quilt and we all jumped into the project.

Next sew day is Saturday, November 19th.  Many of us will be there finishing up our Star quilts.

October 2016 Meeting

We don't have a post for September because  I lost the pics on my camera.  There were alot of pics, too!  We also did not have a workshop in September,   so  we'll just have to celebrate October.

There was not much show n tell this month.  I made a bundle of autumn pieces for the house, but since I had so much to carry in anyway, I decided not to drag my quilting.

Lesa did share her new top ................  cleverly created from - no pattern of course.

Jan M.  presented a program on  a quick, one-step blanket.  (I forgot it's name)

February 2016 Meeting

I think we had a very productive meeting this month.  We began with monthly business and decisions were addressed quickly.

Then on to the program...... Several months ago, Kathy B and Stephanie presented the paint chip challenge and provided a table runner pattern.  Everyone was to create the tablerunner with fabrics represented in the paint chip colors.  The result was to recognize the difference of appearance by where you used color.   We have some fun photos to share ..........

Margaret showed off this gorgeous Irish Chain quilt that she made for one of her sons.  It was dramatically lovely with the black background.

Our charity show began with this awesome T-shirt quilt made by happy Dee.  The t-shirts were all from the 4-H programs.

This is the beginnings of a stack of quilts for the hospital made by our over-achiever Joyce.

This photo shows the rest of the children quilts in the pile.  Thanks every so much for your dedication to our mission work, Joyce!

Finally, don't forget our charity sew day coming up Saturday, February 20th.  Bring something to work on or let Steph know what she might bring from our stash donations for you to work on.
